San Pastore Abbey

San Pastore Abbey is an enormous Cistercian complex built in 1255 by Maestro Anselmo. Abandoned in the 19th century, the abbey fell in ruins,  and until a few years ago the ruins remained covered with vegetation. Then, at the end of the 1990's, it was decided to recover the abbey, which took a lot of restoration work that today is finished.
The abbey, which today is home to a convention center, has a lovely cloister and beautiful capitular hall, the large church with square apse and austere appearance culminate in the tower, which is more similar to a castle than a belltower.
