The Museums of Turin

In the Egyptian Museum you will find entire temples , removed, donated from Egypt as a sign of gratitude for the illuminated activity of the archaeologists of Turin, and they are reconstructed on an entire floor of the museum, which is visible in all of its length by a wall dating back to the Roman era, of the ancient Taurinum. You will also find actual tombs, miraculously intact, including long wooden pirogues where numerous oarsmen tired themselves whose wooden statues seem like they were made yesterday.
And the tomb of the architect of the Pharaoh and his wife is perfectly conserved, with linen towels, furniture, and food, because the architect used a device to divert tomb thieves, and, in fact, his was never violated (that is until the archaeologists found it, obviously).
And the long pieces of papyrus with the fascinating stories of the voyages of the soul into the afterlife and the multi-colored sarcophagi of the mummies, among which is that of a cat, small worshiped pet divinity.
Try to take a guided tour of the Museum; they are very short and let you appreciate and understand what you are looking at.

The Cinema Museum, which is located in the Antonelliana structure, is truly unique, both for its beauty of the space and for the criteria with which it was realized.
At the beginning, you go along the historic portion, where there are illustrations and models, some interactive, which tell of all of the phases of this fascinating art.
The main space of the museum is, instead, constructed from the large internal vault of the structure, 25-meters tall, which an inclined walkway runs for three floors along which there are the collections of movie posters, screens on which there are multiple projections. In the parterre there are around a hundred red chaises lounge chairs where you can lie down to watch the clips of films alternately projected on two large screens, listening to the sound from microphones inserted in the headrests of the chairs.
At the center rises a fast crystal elevator which takes eight people at a time to see the panorama from the top of the building.
All around, in the ringed-space that runs around the outside of the building and the inside of the building, has been reconstructed with original objects from the sets of famous films; there are chairs where you can sit and films projects on screens or on video.
In the center at certain intervals, all of the windows of the building open, and if the weather is nice, a huge light enters the complex. Then, slowly, they close again, and when it is dark again, magic lantern images are project on the sky of the vault with music, increasing its attractiveness.
The visit takes half a day.

The Antiquity Museum, other than its importance for the abundance of remains it holds, is an interesting and beautiful example of modern hypogeous architecture.
Designed by Gabetti and Isola, the best-known architectural studio in Turin, it is famous at a national and international level; it is located under the Gardens of Palazzo Reale, and it is a fascinating space worth visiting.

The Costume Museum, very recently opened, is home to the collection of the antique dealer, Pietro Accorsi, who rightly defined himself as the "King of antiques and antique dealer of the kings."
It occupies the first floor of a palazzo of Via Po, where it seems that Accorsi was the child of the concierge. A child with very clear ideas about his future, in addition to a small inheritance from his aunt allowed him to begin a profession that led him to a very high level. As an adult and successful antique dealer, he purchased the palazzo which today is in part home to the Museum and its offices and in part is rented out for producing the income allowing for the maintenance and promotion of the Museum. Very full of furniture, objects, porcelain, silver, with entire environments reconstructed from regal residences,  it is organized with great taste and criteria which can be appreciated in excellent guided tours.

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Rivioli, even if you aren't attracted to contemporary art. From PIazza Statuto tkae the bus line that goes down all of Corso Francia, which actually went to France. The Corso is perfectly rectilinear and crosses the city cutting through 19th-century quarters, quarters of the beginning of the 20th century, of after the Second World War, and very recent expansions, giving you a cross-section that photographs the city in its various eras. At the end of the bus line, you will find the lovely old town of Rivoli, overhung by the remains of the large castle which is now home of the modern Museum, surrounded by a park. The mountains seem very near.
