Description

Set in the suggestive countryside of the Secchia River natural park, at short distance from Mantua, the House is an ancient dairy-farm which has been restored employing natural materials and at the same time respecting the environment. It is surrounded by a 4000sm private garden.
The house was built in the 1600s as a property of Polirone's Benedictine Abbey to administer a wide estate.  When ecclesiastical assets were confiscated in
Napoleonic period, the property became private and new buildings were added for increasing necessities. The main part was rebuilt at the beginning of 1900, and it is where today the House is located.
The rooms, spacious and furnished in the traditional style, have private bathrooms and independent heating. The suites have living room, two double bedrooms and bathroom with ante-bathroom.

Breakfast is served in a large common hall overlooking the country and the river.

Food, wine and crafts

Our breakfast are prepared with home made foods: jams, cakes and our special butter made with the same milk as Parmigiano Reggiano.
In fact we are in the very area of production of Parmigiano Reggiano, the king of Italian cheeses. The cuisine of south of Mantua area, a zone rich of typical restaurants and trattorias, offers the classic pumpkin “tortelli” (a sort of small cushions of paste stuffed with a mix of various ingredients, one of whose is pumpkin), braised meats, and a typical crumby cake, the “torta sbrisolona”. A Gastronomy that dates back to Gozaga's age and sinks its roots in the luscious agricultural production.  Lambrusco and the typical wines of Mantua's Oltrepò complete the offer.
