572 - Dolo - Riviera del Brenta

Description

Hotel created in an ancient noble residence. This authentic Venetian villa is in the town of Dolo, along the Brenta Riviera, 15 Km from Venice and Padua.
The house was built in the 18th century by the Gasparini, a Venetian noble family. It was, in fact, a custom, for noble families of the time, to build a noble residence in the countryside near the city where they resided. These buildings were always particularly sumptuous and they were built equally for representation and as agricultural entities. They were often used during the milder seasons as to enable the owners a much welcome evasion from the torrid city climate in favor the fresh peacefulness and enjoyment given by the countryside among friends, family, balls and lunches. The Brenta Riviera was also easily reachable by boat, the Venetians' favourite means of transport; sailing up the Canal Grande, through the lagoon and then to the Brenta river.
The hotel still testifies this part of local history and it may be fully appreciated thanks to the restoration which was done in full respect of the landscape and of the artistic patrimony as to preserve its ancient charm. The restoration was supervised with great dedication and love, by the Architect Riccardo Gasparini, one of the descendants of the original family. Some of the chandeliers are in Murano glass, remarkable is the Ca' Rezzonico in the hall, others are in crystal and are of Venetian manufacture dating to the first decades of the 20th century; overall, in their variety, they testify the different local styles.
The hotel has 15 elegant and refined rooms furnished according to the 18th century Venetian style and adorned by original curtains in silk and gold threads, damasks and red velvets. They all have private bathrooms with whirlpool baths, Jacuzzis or crystal shower box, Bossini accessories, hairdryer and towel heater.
The hotel is the result of a harmonic equilibrium between past and present and it has all of modern comforts such as autonomously adjustable air conditioning, room fridge, LCD TV, satellite, Wi-Fi, electronic safe, telephone with a direct line.

Surroundings

The hotel is in an area called the Brenta Riviera which is famous for the numerous historical buildings flanking the homonymous river. These true works of architectural art called villas house frescoes, paintings, sculptures and various expressions of Venetian art from the 16th to the 19th century. The main villas are open to the public.
The hotel is moreover strategically positioned close to both Venice (Venezia) and Padua, to which it is connected through public transport (bus).

How to reach the hotel by public transportation:
Take the busses Padova (Padua) and Venezia (Venice) respectively from the bus terminals of Venice (Piazza Roma) and Padua (Piazzale Boschetti) to the "Casello 12" bust stop. The hotel is only 20 meters from the bus stop.

Activities

At the hotel it is possible to book short cruises along the river which stop near the main villas for interesting and cultural guided tours. The same tours may be done in total autonomy both by car or taking the public transportation. Bicycles may also rented at the hotel as to adventure into the Venetian inland in the discovery of the varied natural landscapes. Maps and bicycle touring guides may be found at the hotel.

Food, wine and crafts

The Riviera is famous for its oeno-gastronomic tradition: in its different restaurants it is possible to savor dishes whose recipes have been inherited from the Venetian tradition. The local country cooking is sided by fish menus: the final result is an extremely varied choice of deliciously typical dishes capable of tickling every palate.
Traditionally the Venetians considered great estimators of wine and "grappa" (distilled brandy). All dishes are accompanied by excellent local wines among which the renowned "prosecco" (sparkling white wine) while the coffee is always accompanied by typical, highly alcoholic, "grappe".
