Description

The farm is situated in Tuscan country in a panoramic position, between Grosseto and Siena districts, at 500m.a.s.l., immersed in the still uncontaminated nature of Mount Amiata. It is surrounded by centuries old chestnut trees (M. Amiata PGI), beside vineyards and olive trees. The House dates back to 1700 and has been completely reorganised respecting the ancient characters in three independent apartments:
St. George (8/9 beds) at first floor, approximately 150sm, made of three two beds rooms and a triple, each with its own shower bathroom, a wide living room with kitchenette and fire place.
St. Lucian (4 beds) at ground floor, of approximately 70sm, made of two two beds rooms, one shower bathroom, a living room with kitchenette and fire place.
St. Aviano( 3 beds) at ground floor, of approximately 50sm, made of one two beds room and one single, one shower bathroom, a living room with kitchenette and fire place; fitted for handicapped.
All the apartments are furnished with antique furniture in harmony with the environment, re-creating the folksy and rural atmosphere of the past, though enrichened with modern comforts as fridge, TV and well fitted kitchen and bathroom.
Every apartment has wide open air spaces fitted with garden furniture, sun beds. A swimming pool of 16x8m is at guests' disposition.

Surroundings

The estate is situated in southern Tuscany, between the sunny Maremma's coast and the fresh woods of Amiata Mount (1738m high).
At short distance it is possible to visit splendid cities of art as Siena or Pienza and suggestive towns as Montalcino and Montepulciano, worldly known, beside historical interest, for their exquisite wines; beautiful Medieval villages of Etruscan origin as Sovana, Pitigliano, Sorano.
The area is rich of thermal waters, all sited in picturesque places as Saturnia, Bagno Vignoni, San Filippo and Petriolo.
Along the Tirrenian coast are worthy seeing the fashionable sea resorts of Castiglione della Pescaia, Punta Ala, Talamone, the Mount Argentario, whilst day trips can be made to the islands of Tuscan archipelago.

Activities

In the immediate surroundings of the House it is possible to practice tennis, swimming, horse riding, sport fishing, trekking and mountain bike; ski in winter.
Beside all this it is possible:
- to visit picturesque medieval villages of the area as Arcidosso, Montelaterone, Castel del Piano,  S. Fiora,   Piancastagnaio, Abbadia S.S., etc…
- to make excursions following tracks meant for trekking, mountain bike or horse riding,
- to follow the roads of taste (Montecucco's Road of wine, M. Amiata IGP Chestnut Road, etc.).
- to explore the natural reserves o f Faunistic Park, Mount Penna, Maremma's Natural Park...
- to visit the Tibetan centre Dzogchen (Merigar).
- to take part to fairs and town feasts in summer and autumn.
- to ski in winter on M. Amiata.

Food, wine and crafts

The farm produces respecting traditional methods extra-virgin olive oil, several types of red wine (CDO Montecucco, Morellino of Scansano, Brunello of Montalcino,..), chestnuts (M. Amiata PGI), cold cuts and meat. All this may be bought directly at the farm and in our butcher shop in Arcidosso.
