Activities

Farm activities:
In the countryside each season is specifically dedicated to particular activities such as the trimming the vineyard, tying of the vine stock, picking of the olives, trimming the olive trees, sowing and threshing the cereals, mowing grass, minding the vegetable garden, etc. If you wish to experience a different kind of holiday, in perfect harmony with nature, you may participate actively in the farms activities.
On request for groups of at least 4, we organize:
- Cooking classes (also for those who book weekend stays)
The local cuisine is typical of the Abruzzi; particularly varied and tasty. Should you wish to learn its secrets sign up for one of our cooking classes! We will show you how to prepare, among other things, maccheroni alla chitarra (pasta), "cace e ova" lamb (baked with cheese and eggs), Arrosticini (sheep kebabs), "Pipindune e ova" (fried peppers with eggs), Pizzelle or Ferratelle (waffles).
- Wine tasting (accompanied by Lorenzo Grazian, an AIS Sommelier)
The Abruzzi are renowned for their excellent wines, among which the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, the Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, the Pecorino and many more. If you wish to taste and learn more of these excellent wines we suggest you sign up for one of our wine-tasting courses.
- Tours of nearby wine-producing farms
Many local farms have been directly involved in the development of the local vineyards. One may therefore visit modern facilities which have, nonetheless, been created in respect of the ancient local traditions. One may therefore visit these farms, learn their "secrets" and savor their products - a truly unforgettable experience for all those who do not consider wine a simple beverage but who are, on the contrary, fascinated also by the context in which it is lovingly produced. We organize guided tours of two or more vineyards a day where one may taste and buy local wines.
- Tours of nearby dairy farms
Dairy products have always been of great importance in the region. Traditionally, the mountain pastures, often unusable during the winters, have instead been of great use and importance during the warmer periods of the year. Dairy products are, still today, obtained with traditional methods and are still one of the fundamental products of the region's cuisine. It is very interesting to visit the farms which have, for decades, reared the sheep that produce the milk necessary for the area's excellent and varied cheese.
