443 - Monte San Pietro - Bologna

Description

The farm is on the hills around Bologna, in an oasis of peace. The house is plunged in a 100-hectare of woods and vineyards within a fauna hunting farm.
4 rooms and 3 apartments decorated with antique furniture were obtained by restructuring two old farm cottages.
The first, called "La Torre", is between the vineyards and a large wooded area with a beautiful view over the plain and Bologna city. Built in brick, probably in the last part of the 18th century upon a typical design of Dotti, a famous Bolognese architect to whom the characteristic form of the sharecropping country houses of our county is due: it has a square layout, two floors and porch passing through the ground floor. Not far, you will find the old cattle shed transformed into a horse stable. At the ground floor, in the porch and in the old cellar is situated the restaurant. At first floor, leaving the original architecture unaltered and using the antique decoration, were realized:
- one two beds room with bathroom,
- one two or three beds room with bathroom,
- a small apartment made up of a bedroom with two beds, a bathroom, and a living area with kitchenette and a double sofa bed.
The second cottage, "Il Colmo", is about 300 meters away from Torre, in a very attractive area between woods and a large field that allows for a marvellous view of the plain. The only noises are those of the birds, and it is easy, from the windows, to watch the games of the dormice and squirrels on the century-old oak trees that surround the house. This last dates back to the first part of the last century. Restructuring we obtained:
-   one two beds room with bathroom at the ground floor;
-   an apartment at first floor consisting of a two beds room, a bathroom, and a living area with kitchenette and a loft in with two sofa beds;
-   an apartment at ground floor, accessible to the disabled, consisting one bedroom with two beds, a bathroom, and a living area with kitchenette.
Outdoor a large garden with swimming pool, open during summer months.
Being at an altitude of 250 meters, the climate is particularly fresh in the summer.
Foreign Languages Spoken: English, Spanish, and a little French.

Surroundings

The farm is located 20 km to the west of Bologna, on the first hills, with a beautiful view over the Padana Plains. On clear days it is possible to see the Alpine arch.
Among the touristic visits that you can take in the surrounding area, we mention: Bazzano, Vignola, Monteveglio 10 km. away; Bologna, Etruscan remains of Misa at Marzabotto 20 km. away; Ferrara, Modena 50 km. away; Mantova, Ravenna, Parma 80 km. away; Verona, Florence 100 km. away; Venice 140 km. away.
Among the locations with thermal baths: Felsinee Thermal Baths 10 km. away, Thermal Baths of Castel San Pietro 20 km. away, Thermal Baths of Porretta 40 km. away.
Amusement Parks: Mirabilandia 70 km. away, Gardaland 150 km. away.

How to arrive by public transportation:
With the suburban railway from Bologna you can reach the station of Ponte Ronca (5 km. from the agritourism).
The international airport of Bologna is 15 km. away.

Activities

There is a Pony Club within the Farm for children ages 5 to 16 years. In the summer there are internship programs organized for kids. It is also possible to take beautiful walks in the woods and ravines.
The presence of a swimming pool available to guests allows for days of relaxation.
There is a Golf Club 10 km. from the agritourism and a Tennis Club 5 km. away.

Food, wine and crafts

The Agritourism has headquarters withing a wine-making farm which produces DOC wines of the Bolognesi hills. In the shop it is possible to purchase wine, olive oil, and cheese made by us.
Our restaurant serves typical dishes of traditional Bolognese cuisine: homemade pasta, grilled meats, "crescentine" and "tigelle", etc.
