Description

The Country Farm is situated on a hill near Cicignano, with a nice panorama of the Roane's valley. It consists of a Villa, where the owners live, and of a rural building with warehouse and oil mill in which 5 apartments have been created with a recent renovation.
Inside the Villa there is a 16th century chapel dedicated to San Giovanni. The surrounding garden-park, filled up with oak trees, yews and one centuries old holm oak, has been re-designed in 1930 by the grand father of the present owner, architect Augusto Maggiorani sr. It contains a “Rotunda” surrounded by cypresses crowning the rests of an ancient Greek theatre, an ideal background for the alley bordered by ancient roses plants.
The apartments all have a double room, dinette with a cooking corner, private bathroom and a porch to have breakfast outdoor.
Common facilities are the living room “Gioia”, panoramic, with fire place, reading corner, TV and DVD. In common laundry, the ancient but still working wood oven, a barbecue. the wide swimming pool with an overlooking terrace enjoying a stunning panorama towards Mount Soratte.

Surroundings

The Farm House is in the north-east side of Sabina, about 15 km. from expressway A1 exit Magliano Sabino and from Via Flaminia. An ideal situation to visit Rome, Orvieto, Viterbo and the many charming old towns of Tuscia and its archaeological sites, and places as the garden of Monsters of Bomarzo, the splendid Villas Bagnaia, Caprarola, etc. But also to follow the track of St. Francesco “cammino” in Rieti's Saint Valley, as well as to visit Sabina area, with its sweet hills, its fortresses, its abbeys. At 40 km. Marmore's falls are an unforgettable sight.

Activities

Swimming and hiking inside the property.
At few kilometres a horse riding school provides for courses or trips with or without a guide.
Guided visits of the famous D.O.P. Extra-virgin olive oil producing centres, feasts, fairs, musical and theatrical shows are organised during the whole summer in Collevecchio as well as in nearby villages. Tennis within 15 km.

Food, wine and crafts

Exquisite red and white wine and extra-virgin oliveP.D.O. extra-virgin olive oil are produced in the estate, made with traditional methods and without preservatives.
Delicious cheeses, honey and a tasty ham are also produced in the area, ideal to enhance the flavour of a good glass of wine.
The Spring Feast (end of April) and Autumn Feast (end of October) which are celebrated in our farm are an opportunity for friends and guests for cultural exchanges and for tasting typical local products.
