181 - Lago d'Orta

Description

At 600m.a.s.l., on the hills of Orta's lake west side, the farm is in a very sunny position, quiet and silent. The house is surrounded by an hectare of land of our property, half lawn and half fruit trees woods (chestnut trees and small fruits) nearly entirely at guests' disposition for sun baths, reading or simple relax.
It is a good base for walks, both for easy and quite demanding ones, with destinations going from the discovery of small XVI-XVIII century villages some hundreds of metres afar, to the sight of the lake, to trekking in the woods.
We offer to guests a large double room of approximately 30sm, with the possibility of an additional bed. The room is totally independent and very recently restored, with shower bathroom.
The adjacent hall, where breakfast is served, guests may also use for reading or playing.
On request telephone in the room, bar-fridge, Internet, hospitality for pets, shuttle to and from station.

Surroundings

The house is on Orta's lake, an area of remarkable cultural and landscape interest. The four hamlets in whom Madonna del Sasso's village is divided offer many examples of Baroque art both in churches and residential buildings.
The XVIII century Madonna del Sasso's Sanctuary looks sheer over the lake, and from the wide square in front of it one can enjoy a large panorama going from Ossola's Valley mounts to Pavia's hills.
Orta's lake (also called Cusio) is at 5min, on its coast there are many beaches for bathing and swimming, villas, monuments and the Sacred Mount, all to visit in Orta and it sourroundings.

Activities

At 1km the sports centre of the village offers bowels, ping pong, tennis courts, football and five-a-side fields, volley, basketball and skate-boarding.
In summer tournaments are organised to which vacationeers may participate.
At 15km the sports centre of Omegna, a little town situated on the north side of the lake, offers indoor and outdoor activities, gyms, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, sailing centre and water skiing.

Food, wine and crafts

At the farm's guests may taste and buy eggs, wood fruits jams, vinegar and oil preserved vegetables, meat and cold cuts of goose and ostrich, all of our production.
In the area it is possible to buy directly from the producers several types of honey, sheep an goat milk cheeses, butter and more preserves.
