131 - San Germano - Colli Berici

Description

The house is situated in an ancient rural village which in XVI and XVII century was seat of the “Most Serene Venetian Republic's General Attorney”.
The most ancient part of the village are the “Dovecot Tower” and the adjacent “Manor House”, dating back to XIV and XV century, and that's where the owners family (living here since 1886) made the guests' lodges.
The 32 hectares wide farm grows grape wines on hills slopes and grains on the level areas.
The lodges at guests' disposition consist of a 3+1 bed apartment, with bathroom and kitchen and of 3 rooms with 2,4,4 beds each. All the rooms are endowed with a common living room with kitchen corner.
The house is an ideal base for suggestive walks across the fabulous world of Iberian Hills. On request the owners will give guests maps and advice about the best itineraries to discover the area.

Surroundings

The village is situated in central Veneto and from here Veneto's cities of art are easy to reach as Vicenza (29km), Verona (52km), Padua (60km) and Venice (approximately 90km). But there are also very interesting and charming minor centres as Este, Montagnana, Soave, Bassano and Marostica, each one with its peculiarities, as for, instance the famous historic checks game of Marostica.
At few kilometres the Euganean Hills National Park and some of the famous Palladian villas, as the Rotonda, the Poiana, Ferri-Pisani's, Saraceno, beside other villas of architects following Palladio as Vincenzo Scamozzi and Francesco Mattoni.

Activities

Beside walks, hiking and sightseeing, for fans of agriculture it's possible to attend to all the season farm works. In the surroundings there are tennis courts and at 10km a large swimming pool with outdoor and indoor pools, at 6km a horse riding school.
The farm puts at guests' disposition a certain number of bicycles.

Food, wine and crafts

We don't have a restaurant, nevertheless in the immediate surroundings there is a wide choice of typical trattorias and farms that only have catering service.
The typical products of our country are the C.O.D. wines of Berian Hills, the PDO Vicenza's brawn and Asiago and Grana Padano cheeses.
In nearby farms you'll also find a good choice of vegetables, also biologically grown.
