093 - S. Croce Camerina - Ragusa

Description

It is a typical patrician XVII century country house, immersed in an evergreen area of carob and olive trees. It is on two levels fortified with high perimetral walls. The lower level was the residence of the farmer, with the adjoining stables, stores and barn; the upper floor was the summer residence of the noble owners.
Today it has been completely restored to its ancient splendour, the House offers seven rooms, all with private bathroom with shower and hair dryer, satellite TV, bar fridge, independent air conditioning, telephone and safe. Moreover guests have at disposition two entirely fitted kitchens and two barbecues, each with an area to partake meals. The copious buffet breakfast with typical foods is served at morning in the common hall.

Surroundings

Numberless are the important cities of art one may visit starting from our house: Ragusa at 13km, Ragusa Ibla 15km, Donnafugata Castle 8km, Modica 18km, Scicli 26km, Noto 60km.
These cities have all been reconstructed after the terrible 1693 earthquake, in the charming Baroque style typical of Noto's Valley, and all have been included in World Heritage by UNESCO.
And furthermore:
Caltagirone, 72km, famous for its coloured ceramics;
Piazza Armerina, 95km, with the Roman Villa of Casale and its ancient mosaics;
Agrigento with its majestic Temples Valley at 160km;
Syracuse with its Greek theatre at 100km;
Catania, Etna volcano and Taormina at 120km.

Activities

Theoretic and practical classes are organised of typical Sicilian cuisine, with thematic dinners.
Excursions are possible along the underneath Grassullo creek bed, visiting its gorges and caves immersed in a wild Mediterranean uncontaminated wood.
A wide swimming pool with annexed whirlpool bath and an ample area used as solarium with beach furniture, a dozen bicycles for pleasant trips, all contribute to relax and pleasantness of your stay.
The parking area is adjacent.

Food, wine and crafts

In our farm it's possible to purchase extra-virgin olive oil DOP Iblei Mounts; thyme honey, carob honey, typical wines as Frappato (DOC), the Cerasuolo of Vittoria (DOCG) and the Nero d'Avola (DOC).
In a nearby farm they produce and sell milk, ricotta cheese, provolas, Ragusan PDO seasoned and semi-seasoned caciocavallo cheese. Buffalo mozzarella at 1,5km.
