The Rose House, 700 m. a.s.l., was edified on the ruins of an ancient Saracen installation
on Mount Rossella, facing the stunning "Scanzano" Valley, in front of the the breathtaking "Rocca Busambra, one of the highest peaks in Sicily, a nest for birds of prey. The name "Rose House" is due to the fact that the quality of local earth favours the growth and abundant flourishing of many varieties of roses.
In the land surrounding the Masseria, which is about 120 acres wide, olive trees and grape-vines are tilled to produce excellent genuine oil, wine, fruits and vegetables. These things are the base of the cuisine of the house that the guests will be able to enjoy.
You will be enchanted by the light, colours and tastes of this corner of paradise inviolate by concrete. A genuine, unpolluted environment, proudly linked to its traditions.
The housings are in restructured old rural buildings, all the rooms are tastily and elegantly furnished, with ancient and/or handicraft furniture, nice prints, exclusive fabrics. There is central heating and all the comforts, with an eye to handiness.
The bedrooms have all direct and independent access to the central courtyard, which is furnished with outdoor furniture, beach umbrellas and armchairs.

Surroundings

15km. north there are Palermo and the splendid Monreale, while about 10km. west, clung on the homonymous mount, you can visit the ancient Greek town of Jato, whose theatre, agorà, streets and houses are still perfectly visible. Going south you'll be able to visit the Arabs Thermae of Cefalà Diana, very well preserved and, at only 10 km. from Rossella the town of Piana degli Albanesi with its charming lake. Finally, if you love cinema, you'll find nearby some unforgettable places where scenes of great films have been shot as “Il Gattopardo”, “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso”, “Salvatore Giuliano”, and others.

Activities

The area is ideal for trekking or mountain biking across the wide property of the estate. You can have a three days course of paragliding; or you can fly with the instructor. The House organises cuisine classes (min. 2 people), wine tasting trips at nearby cellars, daily tours to not far historical-cultural sites. If you don’t have a car, we organise your transfer to and from Palermo Airport.

Food, wine and crafts

Our typical Sicilian cooking is made with products of our farm and its surroundings: vegetables, legumes, fruits, marmalade, sun dried tomatoes, aubergines, artichokes in oil, hand made pasta. Delicious cheeses like ”ricotta” “caciotta” and “caciocavallo”, come from Piana degli Albanesi. We produce excellent wine and biological olive oil. With it we also make a special soap that gives incredible smoothing and cleaning effects.
It will also be interesting to visit the wine cellars in the surroundings and to taste the ecellent different types of wine they produce. Many of these products you may buy and take away or have sent to your home.
