Description

The organic agritourism extends over 12 hectares and is located 350 m. above sea level in the hills of Altomonte, near Pollino National Park between the Appennines, the Ionic Sea, and the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Hospitality is offered in a farmhouse from the end of the 1800's completely renovated and decorated with antique furniture that looks onto a spacious and panoramic portico. In front of the agritourism is a garden with a strawberry grapes arbor.
The agritourism has 5 en suite rooms available, all with independent entrances onto a spacious terrace. On the ground floor is a restaurant with fifty seats and a large fireplace.
The large barnyard is usable as a shady parking lot.

Surroundings

The agritourism is located 1.5 km from the historic center of Altomonte. In the town, of medieval origin, defined as "14th century Tuscan island in Calabria", you can visit the Gothic Romanesque Cathedral, the Dominican Monastery, and the Civic Museum (paintings on wood by Simone Martini, Bernardo Daddi, Paolo di Ciacco); the Norman Tower, the Church of St. Giacomo, the Minimi Convent, and the Church of St. Francesco. During the summer the "Mediterranean Festival of Two Seas" takes place with theatrical shows, dancing, and outdoor music.
Other places to visit (less than 40 minutes away):
Ionic Coast: the beaches suitable for swimming; the Museum and archaeological remains of Sibari, the historic center of Rossano and the liquorice factory of Amarelli; the thermal baths of Ninfe Cave at Cerchiara and the Sanctuary of Madonna delle Armi.
Tyrrhenian Coast: the beaches suitable for swimming, Guardia Piemontese (Valdese community) and the mountains of Fagnano; the thermal baths of Luigiane (thermal pools); the touristic port of Cetraro.
Pollino National Park: San Donato di Ninea; Civita and other Albanian communities; the ravines of the Raganello River; Morano Calabro.
Sila National Park: the mountains at the back of Cosenza and the lakes Cecita and Ampollino.

How to arrive by public transportation: 
- by train:railway stations at Cosenza, Paola or Sibari.
- by plane: airports at Lamezia Terme or Crotone.
Then rent a car.



Activities

Guests can participate in the agritourism's activities (picking olives and making olive oil in the olive press, preparation of foods preserved in oil and jams), cooking and farming courses, walks on foot or mountain biking, playing bocce and ping pong.

Food, wine and crafts

The agritourism is at mostly a location for olive growing and for the production of extra virgin olive oil with its own olive press; there is also a family orchard and they raise small animals.
At the restaurant you can taste the cuisine and Altomontesi dishes, among which are: the "lagane e ciciri" (fettuccine with chickpeas), the "zafarani crushki" (crispy bell peppers), the wild chicory soup with beans, gnocchetti with meat sauce and eggplant meatballs. The wine served comes from the partnering Cellar "Vignaioli del Pollino".
Products available for purchase on the premises are: extra virgin olive oil; specialties preserved in olive oil (sliced eggplant, wild onions, artichokes, crushed olives, wild chicory); hot pepper cream; jams (grape, peach, apricot, plum, and fig) and sour orange marmalade. The agritourism can send all of its products to your home.

In case of cancellatio, the agritourism requires the additional payments of:
-    For cancellations communicated 41 days prior to the expected date of arrival: nothing.
-    Cancellations communicated up to 30 days before the expected date of arrival: further 7%;
-    Cancellations communicated up to 20 days before the expected date of arrival: further 12%;
-    Cancellations communicated up to 10 days before the expected date of arrival: further 20%;
-    Cancellations communicated up to 4 days before the expected date of arrival: further 25%;
-    Cancellations communicated from the third to the expected date of arrival: 100% total cost of the stay.
