Surroundings

We are in Berceto's borough, the last stop of the Franch Pilgrims' Road before Emilia's border with Tuscany. It is a centre of remarkable architectural and historical importance, with an Abbey, a castle and  Madonna delle Grazie's Sanctuary. More ancient villages, churches and castles are to be found in the surroundings. Beside, seeing the strategic location of the House, guests can choose if they like to visit the beautiful cities of Parma and Bologna westward, or to have a pleasant day at sea, as the Tyrrhenian coast is only 50km far.
So you'll be able to choose between Versilia, in Tuscany, with the splendid Points Bianca and Corvo, and the Ligurian Riviera with Poets' Gulf and the Five Lands (Cinque Terre), to come back at evening in the peace and fresh air of the 1000m.a.s.l of our House.

Activities

Trekking an promenades: around the house there are natural tracks in  woods of oak and beech trees, where you might sight roe deers, hares, buzzards and other animals living in our mountains. High Taro's Valley woods are well known for spring and autumn mushrooms picking (the Edible Boletus  Fair is held in September 16th-17th in Borgotaro). In the surroundings the Hundred Lakes Park and the Natural Reserve Guadine-Pradaccio, both part of the recently created Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park. At 40min by car, or half a day walking, are Lagdei and Lagoni, from where start the tracks upward the mounts Marmagna and Orsaro, among the higher summits of Parma's Apennine.
Winter ski in Schia and Pratospilla, at 49 and 55km.

Food, wine and crafts

Farm activity includes wood maintenance, mushrooms and under wood fruits picking and vegetables growing. We are on the “road of wines and flavours”, an eno-gastronomic itinerary stretching between the places of typical products of Emilia Romagna, that you'll be able to taste in local restaurants with whom we have agreements. This is the area of Parmigiano Reggiano origin, that can be bought directly in the factories at a bargain. More typical products are Parma's ham, Felino's sausage, the wines of Parma's hills (Lambrusco, Malvasia, Bonarda, etc.)
